Laurinska Street

History

This street was established in the 13th century although there is evidence of settlement around this area even in prehistoric times. During Roman occupation this was an important Roman road. In the middle ages this road connected two of the gates of the walled town and together with what is today Lord Street this was called Long Street (Dlha Cesta). Later on this street was given its present name after the gate which it lead to. This gate was demolished at the end of the 18th century. Most of the buildings along this street are built on older foundations.
