Project Programme

The project will consist of three phases...

Initial pilot phase (Bath + Budapest)

• Work is already under way on this phase of the project and the first draft should be on-line by the end of April
• "Ecological Tour" developed by the Metropolitan Research Institute and the staff of the Institute for Urban Studies of Budapest University
• An interactive multi-media hypertext presentation of this existing research paper will be prepared
• This phase of the project will serve to familiarize everybody involved with the software and hardware to be used in the project and to get a feel for the kind of challenges posed and opportunities afforded by the presentation available techniques

Study Phase (Budapest)

• Compilation of a computerised morphological study of the changing built environment in Budapest
• This will be undertaken with a wider perspective focused on the generalised urban environment
• This will form the basis of the Generalised Location Non-Specific Interactive Urban Data Presentation System

Implementation Phase (Bath)

• Taking the Ecological Tour and Computerised Morphological Study extracting all location-specific data to produce a generalised urban data presentation structure
• Study of any necessary adaptations to make this more applicable to the UK
• Draw up systems and guidelines for conversion of existing data to ease its integration with the generalised urban data presentation structure
