This is one of the oldest streets in the historical part of the town. Archeological research has traced settlement on this site as far back as the early stone age. During the period of the Celts and Slavs in the middle ages it was an amber trading route. The original basis of today's street was a long-distance route from Moravia to the bank of the Danube which was built in the 13th Century.
In 1390 the town sold the land of the street to the rich Italian family Bonaventura de Salto. It was this family who gave the street the name which it has had up until the present day.
